In December of 2011 I was diagnosed with type II diabetes.
I think I probably had the disease for a while before my diagnosis was confirmed. About 34% of diabetics don’t know they have the disease, I’m told.
Prior to December 2011, my disease wasn’t affecting me to the degree that I couldn’t ignore it, but at some point that changed.
In January of 2012, I began reading about nutrition and following health and wellness bloggers. I began working on my relationship with food. I began to see results, and that made me more excited than I had been in a long time. I thought maybe there was a way to turn this thing around without filling my body with more medications.
I did not want to fill my body with more chemicals!
This blog is my attempt to share what I am discovering about me and how making little changes can bring big health rewards. I’m on a quest to recover from compulsive overeating and lose another fifty pounds. I’ve already lost 100 lbs and kept it off for a couple decades. My most recent efforts to help my body get better include my Three Goals Thursday initiative.
You can read about Three Goals Thursday here.
If you’d like to see how much better my health stats got once I became serious about my eating and my health, check out the blood work report I had six months after my diagnosis.
I hope what I share here encourages you!
Please come back and check on my progress from time to time. Knowing you’re there keeps me honest and healthy!
Happy Eating! Happy Life!
